AVENGED SEVENFOLD's new self-titled album comes out on October 30, almost exactly a year since the band first began the writing process for it. Lead singer
M. Shadows told
The Pulse of Radio that the California group wanted to fade out of the public eye for a while before coming back with a brand new record. "I, for the record, will say that that's what normal bands should do," he explained. "People don't get any breathing room and they get, they have to listen to a band way too much, like they — from record to record, you don't get any break. When I was growing up, I always wanted a band to take a break and then I got really amped for their next record, and then, you know, they kind of went away for a while and then they'd come back, then you'd remember why you loved that band again. And so I think we did it the right way, but to some people nowadays it seems like it's like a long time."
AVENGED SEVENFOLD's new album, its fourth, will follow up the band's 2005 breakthrough effort,
"City of Evil".
The record's first single,
"Almost Easy", hit rock radio stations this week.
The band will begin a club and theatre tour on October 29 in Los Angeles, with shows booked through November 25 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD will perform on
Spike TV's second annual
Scream Awards, which will be taped on October 19 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles and air on Tuesday, October 23.
